Spanish pirates pinched

SPAIN is no longer dubbed a ‘piracy pirate’.

The US government has removed the country from its piracy blacklist following ‘recent efforts regarding the protection of copyright’.

In particular, the US praised Spain’s new Sinde-Wert law which came into force on March 1 and aims to combat piracy of authors’ rights on the internet.

Spain’s minister of culture, Jose Ignacio Wert, described the move as ‘very positive’.

“It responds to the clear commitment of the government to guarantee the protection of copyright in our country,” he said.
