Airports close in southern Spain

A TRIO of airports in southern Spain have closed due to the volcanic ash cloud continuing to drift over from Iceland.

Sevilla, Jerez and Badajoz were all forced to shut down, as well as a further four in the Canary islands.

Last weekend some 19 airports in northern Spain were closed as the cloud moved across Europe.

In April thousands of travellers were left stranded across the world after huge chunks of European airspace were closed because of the original ash problems.
