Rubalcaba to lead Spanish Socialists

THE Spanish Socialist party (PSOE) has a new leader after Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba beat opponent Carme Chacon by just 22 votes.

Rubalcaba has officially taken over from Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, who has led the party for the last 12 years.

“We are a strong party,” said the 60-year-old, before saying the party needs reformation and a change of ideas.
