Iran stops oil exports to Spain

IRAN has cut all crude oil exports to Spain as a pre-emptive measure against EU embargos โ€“ which Spain is not supporting.

โ€œSpain is badly hit because we used to import a lot of Iranian oil,โ€ said a foreign ministry spokesman.

The European ban, set to come into place on July 1, is an attempt to force Iran into abandoning the development of nuclear weapons and to take the EUโ€™s request seriously to โ€˜come to the table and meetโ€™.

However Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has insisted Iran can survive up to three years without selling any of its oil.
