PROUD Gibraltarians descended on the Victoria stadium last night to watch the Rock’s first ever club match in a European competition.

The champions of Gibraltar 12 years running, Lincoln Red Imps, drew 1-1 with HB Torshavn, from the Faroe Islands’ capital city.

Joseph Chipolina fired the home side ahead with a penalty, only for Levi Hanssen to equalise in the second half.

The two teams will meet again in Torshavn, with the winner earning a clash with Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade for the right to progress further.

Gibraltar is the newest and smallest member of Uefa, European football’s governing body, after being accepted in May last year.
