Driver chased by 20 police cars and a helicopter in Puerto Banus

A DRIVER chased by 20 police cars and a helicopter was arrested in Puerto Banus after abandoning his car and jumping a fence into a seafront urbanisation.

The Olive Press can reveal that 15 Guardia Civil officers chased the man along the paseo near the La Victoria statue after a 60 kilometre car chase on November 25.

Eye witnesses told the Olive Press the man then jumped over the gates into the Playa Rocio urbanisation before the police detained him.

Nearby bar worker, Maria Bueno, said: “It was all very exciting, when the police followed him over the fence one of them took him down.

“Three or four more then jumped on top of him and they put him in handcuffs.

“It was like something out of a movie.”

The car chase started when the driver ignored a Guardia Civil officer’s attempt to pull him over.

The driver was driving without a licence and his vehicle had no ITV. It was later revealed that the man was also wanted in connection to other offences.
