THE mayor of Porcuna has called upon the Junta de Andalucia for support and funds to preserve the culture of the Jaen town.

Porcuna, the home to the ancient Iberian sculpture collective and the remains of the Roman city Obulco, is in a protected cultural zone, but the mayor declares that the city has not received the attention it deserves.

The mayor asked for help in the conservation of a newly discovered Roman amphitheatre, which he believes could become an important monument for Jaen.
