A PENSIONER holidaying on the Costa del Sol has drowned in front of his wife.
The 75-year-old German was bathing in a swimming pool in Torrox-Costa at the Torcasol urbanisation.
He got in the pool yesterday at around 1:40pm, but was seen struggling by a fellow swimmer.
A lifeguard jumped in to save the man and performed resuscitation attempts, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local police also used a portable semi-automatic defibrillator, but were unsuccessful in reviving the tourist.
A cause of death has not yet been established, but police sources believe the man suffered a heart attack.
The man’s wife was apparently very upset by what happened.
