That secretive visit saw Obama give a speech to a German tech firm, but his next stay is expected to be more pleasure, less business.
“We have invited former President Obama to return to Marbella on a more extensive visit so that he can enjoy playing golf and all the attractions that our city offers, just as his wife did a few years ago,” said Muñoz.
The Marbella mayor referred to former First Lady of the US, Michelle Obama, who lived it up on the city’s Golden Mile in 2010.
Her first summer holiday after Obama became president saw the 55-year-old schmooze with Eva Longoria and Antonio Banderas.
The invite to Obama comes amid a 30% increase of American tourists to Marbella during the last year.
“The United States will continue to be one of our priorities among the countries where we will strengthen our tourism promotion,” Muñoz added.
Marbella saw a 54% surge in American hotel guests at the beginning of 2018.
