British Airways computer glitch sparks travel chaos at London airports

BRITISH Airways has cancelled dozens of flights out of London airports after a major computer failure.

The airline has blamed a ‘system problem’ for delays, cancellations and long queues affecting short-haul flights from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports.

In total, more than 200 flights have been delayed with 81 Heathrow and 10 Gatwick flights cancelled.

Travellers have been offered the chance to move bookings to another date between 8-13 August, according to BA.

In a statement, the airline said: “We are working as quickly as possible to resolve a systems issue which has resulted in some short-haul cancellations and delays from London airports.

“A number of flights continue to operate but we are advising customers to check ba.com for the latest flight information before coming to the airport.”
