HOMES are being evacuated as a preventative measure after a fire was spotted in an area popular with British homeowners in Javea.

The fire was first recorded at 6.30pm in the El Rafalet urbanisation near to the Club de Golf Javea.

The blaze has been declared a ‘Level 1 emergency situation’ – the least severe of three situations – by the Valencian Community’s 112 service.

The situation expects ‘serious harm to forest resources’ and ‘minor harm to people and non-forest resources’.

Two airborne units, three forest fire units, two fire engines and two teams of provincial firefighters are reportedly at the scene extinguishing the blaze.
