THE Guardia Civil has sounded the alarm over a sex tape extortion scam in Spain.
According to the police body, victims are sent an email which threatens to send an alleged video of them engaged in sexual acts to all their contacts.
They are then given 72 hours to pay the scammers €2,000 in bitcoin to stop the release of said clip.
Police warned today that such emails should be ignored and are nothing more than a scam attempt.

If anyone has made a payment, they are advised to compile all the evidence of contact and payment and send it to the Fuerzas y Cuerpos de Seguridad del Estado (FCSE).
One email from a scammer read: “I am writing to you because I put a malware on the porn page you have visited.
“My virus recorded all your information and activated your webcam, which recorded you masturbating.
“I must admit that you are very perverted.
“I will delete the compromising video and the information if you pay me €2,000 in bitcoin.
“If you do not send the payment within the next 48 hours, I will send this video to all your friends and partners.”
