URB. LA FLORIDA, ORIHUELA COSTA

He was handed over into the custody of the Guardia Civil at their Pilar de la Horadada barracks.

Authorities have not disclosed the ages or nationalities of the couple who live in a predominantly non-Spanish area of the Orihuela Costa.

The woman escaped her imprisonment on Sunday afternoon from a La Florida urbanisation property.

The victim contacted the police and an Orihuela patrol car arrived to see her visibly upset and crying in the middle of the street.

She told officers that she had just escaped from the property where she had been held against her will since the end of April.

During that time she suffered continuous threats and coercion from her partner including the threat to send embarrassing material to her family and friends if she went outside.

On Sunday, the woman insisted that she had to go out to do some urgent shopping and contacted her son instead as she escaped.

The boyfriend kept to his promise and then started to distribute the images and videos.

He was interviewed inside the home by Orihuela police officers who then detained him.
