A BRITISH man, 50, has been shot in the face and rushed to emergency surgery following a fight in a Marbella bar last night.

An eyewitness told the Olive Press: “There was a small disagreement outside the bar and then it kicked off loads.

“There were 10-15 people involved and in the panic a gun was pulled out.

“As soon as bullets went off everybody fled.”

Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident, all of whom are believed to be British.

They were stopped by authorities near the scene of the shooting in the Aloha Urbanisation on Avenida del Prado in Nueva Andalucia.

The victim was shot just before 9pm and was then rushed to Costa del Sol Hospital in critical condition.

Sources say the man, known as Tom, was a regular at the bar where the fight broke out and had been staying in a luxury residential estate in Estepona.

When emergency surgery was required, the man was then transferred to Carlos Haya Hospital, Malaga.

The investigation is being headed up by the Judicial Brigade of the Marbella police station with the support of drug police Udyco-Costa del Sol.
