IT’s one of the signature events in the Costa del Sol calendar- and there’s no surer sign the new year has begun than diving into a sponsored swim event in Riviera del Sol takes place on Saturday, January 16, when brave swimmers take the plunge at Max’s Beach.

Registration is open for all would-be paddlers looking to take a dip for a good cause as Collective Calling raise funds for underprivileged kids in Tanzania.

Swimmers of all kinds are welcome along to the big event, whether you’re a seasoned diver or doggy paddler.

There are five events in total, catering to every age and ability including a Kids Fun Dip, Adult Fun Dip, Adult 50m and 100m swim, plus a dive for rubbish.

You do, however, have to be sponsored to take part and everyone is asked to raise €50 to enter. This can be done as a group of five, with each person raising €10.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: “Sign up for any category but please try and get as many sponsors as you can.

“There is food, drinks there on the day, all for a great cause helping our project for street children in Tanzania. “We are also collaborating with Mi Moana on the day for a beach clean up as well as a yoga class with Senge Dorje at Max Beach and dive session with Nic.”

The event has been organised in collaboration with the Town Hall in Mijas, MI Moana, Diving with Nic, Senge Dorje Yoga and Ecocean-Green Solution.

To register and for a brochure with more info plus sponsorship form please email [email protected] or WhatsApp 0034612553518 with your name and telephone number and the category you would like to take part in.
