A BRITISH tourist has died in Benidorm after the rope connecting her parachute to the boat broke while she was parasailing, leading her to crash into nearby rocks.
The victim, reportedly 66 years old, was parasailing near the Cola del Caballo mountain, toward the TÃo Ximo cove, with a 47-year-old man, at around 6.50pm on Monday, when the rope connecting the parachute to the boat broke, leaving the pair helpless in the air before they struck the rocks below.

Several witnesses told local media that they were ‘in anguish’ as they watched the parachute fly uncontrolled towards the rocks of the TÃo Ximo cove.
A red flag, which means a ban on all water activities, was reportedly raised moments before the accident, as conditions on the Costa Blanca deteriorated rapidly, according to some local reports.
Having taken off from the popular Playa Levante, strong winds quickly blew the pair into danger after the cord attaching them to the boat snapped.
Shocking video from the scene showed the aftermath of the accident, as the parasail dragged the pair through the water, while rescue boats gave chase.

The woman was found by emergency services in cardiorespiratory arrest. Although medics initially managed to revive her, she had suffered multiple traumatic injuries and later died at Marina Baixa hospital in Villajoyosa.
The man also sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was transported to Sant Joan d’Alacant university hospital.
Parasailing is a popular activity for many tourists in Spain. Passengers are attached to a giant parachute and launched from behind a speedboat.
Guardia Civil is still investigating the circumstances of the accident, including how the rope came to break.
