Husband, 45, arrested after wife’s killed in suspected gender violence case in northern Spain

BASQUE police have locked up a 45-year-old man this Friday, following the violent death of his wife, 44, in Basauri, Vizcaya.

The man is suspected to be involved in the victim’s death, which occurred on Wednesday in northern Spain.

After investigating, the regional police arrested the victim’s partner on Friday, accusing him of homicide in the context of gender-based violence.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, with investigations ongoing.

On Wednesday morning, a medical team were dispatched to a house in Basauri where they discovered the women.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim is a 44-year-old woman of Spanish origin. 

A forensic analysis carried out in the following hours confirmed evidence of a violent death, prompting an investigation by the Ertzaintza.

Gender-based violence remains a major concern in Spain, with authorities maintaining strict protocols to investigate and prevent such cases.
