A PARISH priest aged 52, was reportedly traveling with a 25-year-old Peruvian man when officers pulled the car over near the Basilica of San Francisco last Thursday.
According to police sources, officers became suspicious after seeing the vehicle suddenly slow down, briefly stop and then accelerate irregularly through the city centre.
After stopping the car, officers identified the driver as a priest based in the province of Cuenca.

Policia Municipal officers asked both men whether they were carrying drugs, which they denied.
However, officers reportedly decided to search the vehicle after noticing both men appeared nervous during questioning.
During the inspection, officers discovered four blister packs of 100mg sildenafil pills, the active ingredient used in Viagra, along with another pack containing 200mg tablets.
The medication was reportedly hidden among documents and personal belongings inside the car.

The priest claimed the viagra belonged to him but could not provide a prescription.
Officers also found several opened bottles of poppers both inside the vehicle and in a bag belonging to the passenger.
Poppers are an inhaled substance commonly linked to chemsex practices and are illegal to sell or produce in Spain.
The priest was taken to the Central District police station where officers filed a report over the seized substances.
However, after giving a statement, he was released as a suspect but was not arrested.
According to reports, the priest told officers he did not believe he was committing any offence because he was carrying fewer than 100 pills.
In Spain, viagra legally requires a prescription and can only be obtained through authorised pharmacies.
The case has sparked controversy due to the involvement of a Catholic priest and the nature of the substances allegedly discovered during the stop.
