A BELGIAN teenager accused of killing a man outside a Costa del Sol cannabis club has disappeared shortly after being released from jail without restrictions pending trial.
The suspect, who was 17 at the time of the shooting, is accused of firing 18 bullets at a worker outside a cannabis club in Fuengirola in December 2024.
He was extradited from Belgium to Spain in July 2025 and remained in custody while awaiting trial. However, authorities say he is now ‘unaccounted for’ after reaching the maximum nine-month detention period permitted for underage offenders.
“This is absurd, it’s a disaster,” police sources told El Pais, warning that the teenager posed a serious flight risk.
Investigators believe the killing was linked to organised crime networks operating out of the Netherlands.
According to the investigation, the teenager allegedly travelled to Malaga from Belgium specifically to carry out the hit.
He then fled the scene on a bicycle after dumping the weapon beneath a parked car.

Police later discovered the victim was not the intended target. The gunman is accused of mistakenly killing 25-year-old Jasin Ajar, a Dutch national who had recently moved to the Costa del Sol and found work at the cannabis club.
Authorities say the real target was another individual connected to the venue.
The wider investigation led to several arrests across Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands, including suspects accused of organising the attack and transporting the assault rifle used in the shooting.
One alleged accomplice was shot dead by police in Amsterdam after reportedly opening fire on officers attempting to arrest him.
The case has also reignited criticism of Spain’s handling of international organised crime suspects, after several alleged members of the Dutch-Moroccan Mocro Maffia network were previously released due to procedural failures or missed legal deadlines.
