A BRITISH tourist was beaten up and robbed in Benidorm’s ‘English Zone’ by three attackers.
The trio from Alicante rented an apartment in the resort as an operational base for a few days during which they went out to steal from holiday makers.
Two Algerian men, aged 20 and 22, have been arrested by the Policia Nacional and jailed by a Benidorm court.

A search is continuing for their 17-year-old compatriot.
The Informacion newspaper said they struck on May 20 after driving past their target in a car.
They noticed that the 33-year-old Brit was drunk and therefore a relatively easy ‘mark’.
The men got out and went up to the tourist and then punched him all over his body, inflicting a broken nose.
They stole his mobile phone and fled in their car when a Policia Nacional patrol came to help the injured Brit.
The victim was taken to the Marina Baixa Hospital in Villajoyosa and after his discharge, he told police that he could not remember what happened, due to being intoxicated.
He did however point out that his phone was missing.
An eye-witness saw the assault and gave a description of the car used by the robbers.
It was a rental vehicle hired two days earlier in Finestrat and was abandoned shortly after the attack.
The police discovered the rental contract inside the car with details of the 22-year-old Algerian.
They also found a receipt for a phone card purchased in Alicante.
The rental had been pulled over at a police checkpoint the previous day with the 22-year-old behind the wheel accompanied by the teenager.
An analysis of CCTV videos helped to track down where the trio were staying and a raid produced two arrests.
When officers identified themselves at the front door, the stolen mobile phone was thrown out of a window.
The Policia Nacional confirmed that one of the men had been previously arrested in Almeria under a different name for making an illegal border crossing.
They have been charged with committing robbery with violence, causing injury, and belonging to a criminal group.
