A BRITISH man has died in a paragliding accident in Spain after becoming tangled in power lines, according to reports.

The 63-year-old was flying near the village of Palau de Noguera, in Catalonia’s Lleida province, when the crash happened.

Emergency services were called at around 1.20pm on Wednesday, with three teams of firefighters sent to the scene.

Firefighters from nearby stations in Tremp and Sort searched the area, found the man badly injured and gave him first aid before paramedics arrived.

Officers from the Mossos d’Esquadra, Catalonia’s regional police force, also attended.

Despite the efforts of emergency crews, the man later died from his injuries.

Police have opened an investigation into what happened, although early indications suggest it was a tragic accident, sources have said.

The man’s identity has not yet been released.

Palau de Noguera sits at the foot of the Pyrenees mountains and is often used as a base for people heading to Ager, one of the region’s best-known paragliding spots.
