A 350 METRE stretch of Torrevieja coastline saw a day-long bathing ban after a water test showed up some fecal contamination.
The City Council took the decision to impose the restriction on Wednesday, but it was lifted on Thursday following a new test.
The fresh results, according to the council, showed a total recovery of appropriate microbiological levels, and confirmed that it was an ‘isolated and short-lived incident’.

The area affected was between the natural pools of the Paseo Maritimo de Juan at the Paseo de Los Rocas through to the Hombre del Mar statue.
Hundreds of bathers go for a swim in that area during the summer season.
The closure was described as ‘preventive’ following tests carried out by the Valencian General Directorate of Water.
It was the first weekly test carried out the summer period, where sampling and analysis started on Monday and continues through to September 15.
It’s not known at this stage where the contamination came from.
Close to the Hombre del Mar, is one of the main pumps of Torrevieja’s sanitation network, which handles 40% of the city’s wastewater.
Torrevieja’s Policia Local and council beach workers sealed off the area early on Wednesday.
Temporary fencing has been erected along with the hoisting of red flags.
The group of natural pools that are located close to Playa de Cura remained open to bathers.
The council said that it enforced the closure ‘to guarantee at all times maximum safety and the quality of bathing water’.
