Three arrests made over death of 88-year-old British tourist out celebrating his birthday with his wife in Tenerife holiday hotspot

A UK traveller has died from head wounds caused by a violent robbery in the Canary Islands, which has resulted in the apprehension of three suspects.

Three men linked to a deadly robbery have been caught in Tenerife, according to a report by Policia Nacional.

An 88-year-old British pensioner and his wife were victims of a violent mugging attack outside their holiday home on Asomada del Morisco Street last week.

The victim is said to have gone into cardiac arrest and suffered a head wound after falling onto the ground from his struggle with the suspects.

An ambulance transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition, but despite fighting for his life he died 48 hours later on June 19.

A spokesperson with Policia Nacional announced the confirmation of three people’s arrest linked to the brutal incident.

The victim and his 79-year-old wife were in Spain to celebrate the man’s 88th birthday.
