PASSANGERS flying from Malaga may soon be able to keep liquids and electronics in their bags, as airports around Spain shift to new state-of-the-art scanners.
The new machines use advanced 3D X-ray imaging capable of detecting explosives without passengers having to remove anything from their bags, speeding up security checks.
The scanners have already been installed at terminals in Madrid-Barajas Airport, Barcelona, and Palma de Mallorca.

Further rollout across Spain is still underway, but Spain’s airport operator AENA has said it will prioritise airports with the highest number of passengers.
Malaga, the Canary island airports, Menorca, Bilbao, Alicante-Elche, Valencia, and Ibiza are among the top priority candidates.
The upgrade is part of a €1.17 billion investment aimed at improving airport security.
Despite this more relaxed screening process, passengers are still required to stick to the 100ml liquid rule, even though the containers can remain in their luggage.
