A MAN accused of a deadly drug feud execution in France has been captured in Spain while trying to flee to Morocco.

The fugitive was arrested by the Policia Nacional at Almeria bus station after investigators discovered he was allegedly planning to escape Europe by catching a ferry across the Mediterranean.

He was wanted in France over the fatal shooting of a man in Montbeliard, eastern France, on June 14.

Detectives believe the killing was the result of a score-settling between rival drug traffickers.

The dramatic arrest came after French police alerted their Spanish counterparts that the wanted man was heading south towards the Andalucian coast.

Officers swooped as the suspect stepped off a coach at Almeria bus station, ending his attempted escape before he could reach the port.

The international manhunt gathered pace after investigators recovered a pair of blue latex gloves believed to have been worn by the gunman during the murder.

The forensic evidence helped identify the suspect and ultimately led police to his whereabouts, authorities have said.

Spanish police said the operation was made possible through the swift exchange of intelligence and close cooperation with French law enforcement.

The suspect is now expected to face extradition proceedings before being returned to France, where he is wanted in connection with the homicide investigation.
