SWARMS of Argentinian fans flooded one of Madrid’s most iconic squares last night after the Albiceleste secured their place in Sunday’s final against Spain.
Viral footage circulating online shows hundreds of supporters singing, chanting and jumping in Madrid’s Plaza Mayor, with groups waving Argentinian flags and taunting rivals with chants that ‘Spain is scared.’
The celebrations erupted after England suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the semi-final, with the Three Lions coming undone during a late comeback from a star-studded Argentina side.
England had taken control of the match when Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the 55th minute, giving the team a crucial advantage.
After manager Thomas Tuchel switched to a back five, however, Argentina began to dominate possession and pile pressure on the English defence.
The equaliser arrived in the 84th minute when Enzo Fernandez converted Lionel Messi’s assist, lifting a clever finish over goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Less than 10 minutes later, Lautaro Martínez headed the ball into the net to complete Argentina’s stunning 2-1 comeback, breaking the hearts of millions of England supporters around the world.

The highly anticipated World Cup final will take place on 19 July at 9pm Spanish time, with Spain facing Argentina at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
It will not be the first meeting between the two footballing nations. Spain and Argentina have faced each other 14 times, with Spain winning seven matches, Argentina six, and one ending in a draw.
The two teams enter the final with impressive recent records. Argentina are the reigning world champions after lifting the trophy in 2022, while Spain claimed the European Championship title two years later.
