SEVILLA is gearing up for a thrilling weekend as British music icons The Prodigy and Sting prepare to take to the stage in the Andalucian capital.
The pair will headline the Iconica Santalucia Sevilla Fest in the city’s Plaza de EspaƱa, with the Prodigy are first up on Friday night before Sting follows on Saturday.
Best known for chart-topping hits including Firestarter, Breathe and Out of Space, The Prodigy have long been one of the UK’s most successful electronic acts and continue to sell out major venues across Spain.
Formed in Essex in 1990, the band pioneered the ‘big beat’ sound, blending breakbeat, rave, punk and industrial rock into a style that has influenced generations of electronic artists.

Their explosive live performances have taken them to some of the world’s most unconventional venues.
In 1995, they performed in Belgrade despite many international artists avoiding Serbia during the aftermath of the Yugoslav wars.
They have also played in Beirut and staged a memorable performance in Moscow’s Red Square.
This weekend, however, they swap Red Square for Plaza de EspaƱa, which has welcomed stars including Robbie Williams and Maroon 5 in recent years.

Gates for both concerts open at 8pm, with performances scheduled to begin at 10.30pm.
The Prodigy arrive in Seville fresh from a headline set at Barcelona’s Sonar Festival last month.
They have also previously topped the bill at Spain’s Benicassim and Creamfields festivals.
