MILLIONS of viewers flocked to a moving social media post last week after an anonymous El Mundo reader took out an entire page in the newspaper to presumably commemorate their late partner.
It is the second year running that the mysterious mourner placed the tribute in the popular publication, with this year’s obituary appearing on Saturday, July 12.
The concise message stands out against an otherwise blank page, with the heartfelt words reading almost like a poem.

The obituary reads: “Dear Lola, my love, today marks 21 years since you have been gone.
“Every day and every night I have thought of you, and I have dreamt about you.
“There will never be a human being like you. I just want to be with you. I love you.”
The text is identical to the tribute published by the newspaper last year, with only the number of years changed.
The moving words have sparked a wave of reactions online, ranging from heartfelt messages to speculation about the identity of the author.
One Facebook user wrote that these ‘36 words tell us that love exists,’ while another said that ‘when love is true, it stands the test of time.’
Others have floated intriguing theories about the letter’s authorship, suggesting it may have been written by a mother to her daughter – ‘the only true love that survives forever.’
Even the reporters at El Mundo say they do not know who is behind the tribute. “The person behind Lola’s obituary remains anonymous,” they said.
The newspaper also posted on X that the message was a full-page tribute and had been ‘specifically edited according to the requester’s demands.’
