GIBRALTAR’s Football Association (FA) has withdrawn its support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino as he seeks re-election for a fourth term.
The organisation made the announcement in a public statement on Monday, citing concerns over FIFA’s ‘transparency, consultation and decision-making.’
It comes as Infantino faces mounting backlash over a proposal to sell stakes in the World Cup and other major tournaments to private investors.
Gibraltar FA said in its statement: “Decisions of fundamental importance to the future of football must be taken transparently, collectively and through the governance structures established for that purpose.

“Commercial revenues are important to the continued development of the game, but they must serve football rather than determine its direction.”
Gibraltar FA is the latest association to join a growing list of critics since Infantino’s plan, known as FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), was scrapped following a widespread revolt on August 1.
Detractors include England, Wales and Ireland, as well as the football confederations of Europe (UEFA), North America (CONCACAF) and Asia (AFC).
Calls have also been growing for Infantino to resign over the failed FFE, although the president has stood firm on his plans to seek re-election next year.
The election will take place on March 18, 2027, at the 77th FIFA Congress in Rabat, Morocco.
