• The original legendary line up |
THE King is unlikely to make it himself, but his band are making their Spain debut this month.
Elvis Presley’s original group, the TCB Band, are set to give a one off concert in Marbella on January 18.
In what will be their only performance in Spain, the original legendary line up of James Burton, Glen D Hardin, Norbert Putnam, Ronnie Tutt and Paul Leim will be joined by singer Dennis Jale, to perform the best loved songs from the king of rock and roll.
Presley’s best friends, Sam Thomson and Jerry Schilling, will also be taking to the stage to let the audience in on some of Elvis’ most private stories, a week after what would have been his 77th birthday.
Tickets for the performance at the Palacio de Congresos are available at El Corte Ingles, and Ticketmaster and www.marbellaspecialevents.com.

THE La Cala cougar is clearly not scared of travelling for a meal. The celebrated wild cat that was first spotted in La Cala a year ago has apparently turned up in Campillos. As reported by the Olive Press, he has been SLOWLY moving inland, and now the “panther-like” feline has been accused of killing [...]

I think you’ll find (if you bother to research the matter properly – or at all) that his original line up in the Sun studios was “Elvis, Scotty and Bill” (look at an original 45rpm Sun label). Scotty Moore was the guitarist and Bill Black was on bass.
Originally there was no drummer but a studio based one was used in late 1954 called Jimmy Lott, followed by Jonny Bernero, before DJ Fontana finally joined the line-up on a permanent basis.
All this stuff is now available on-line, so why does The Olive Press choose to peddle myths?
Great news for Spanish fans. One observation I would make is that it is NOT the original lineup which was James Burton on lead guitar; Ronnie Tutt on drums; Glen Hardin on piano and Jerry Scheff on Fender bass. Further, both Ronnie Tutt and Paul Leim are both drummers.
The TCB band was formed by Elvis with the help of James Burton in 1969 for his live comeback in Las Vegas and continued touring with him until his death in 1977. Ronnie Tutt,Glen D. Hardin and James Burton are the origonal members who are playing in Marbella.Norbert Putman played guitar on over 100 studio recorded songs for Elvis is also taking part as is world famous drummer Paul Liem. Dennis Jale will be providing the vocals and Elvis Presleys bogygaurds and friends, Jerry Schilling and Sam Thompson will be telling stories of their time with Elvis. A great evenings entertainment.
Who says I won’t be there?
