Picasso – the world’s most stolen painter

SPANISH painter Picasso is the most stolen artist of all time.

The Art Loss Register shows that 1,147 paintings by Picasso are registered as stolen, missing or disputed – that’s more than twice as many as the next artist on the list.

Works stolen include the 1912 oil painting Dove with Green Peas, swiped from a Paris museum in 2010, and Woman’s Head which was taken from Athens’ National Art Gallery last month.

Also in the top 10 most stolen artists are Spanish painters Salvador Dali and Joan Miro.
