emojiFROM smiling poops to phallic aubergines, the world has gone emoji mad.

And now experts have analysed more than one billion uses of the tiny cartoon icons to see how they are used across the world.

Spaniards proved themselves to be the biggest party animals, using the ‘party time’ emoji 72% more often than the average.

In keeping with national stereotypes, the French send more hearts than any other region, while Australians use double the average amount of alcohol-themed emoji.

Carried out by British app developer SwiftKey, the research also found that the majority of emojis used worldwide are positive.
