IT has been one of Hollywood’s most enduring relationships.

But after 18 years of wedded unity, Melanie Griffith has filed for divorce from 53-year-old Antonio Banderas.

The 56-year-old actress – who for the first time in years did not support her husband during Semana Santa in Spain – has cited irreconcilable differences.

The couple, who fell in love on the set of the 1995 film Two Much, have been plagued by split rumors for most of this year.

A spokesperson for the couple said: ‘We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost 20 years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together.’
