Game of Thrones to base next series at Alcazaba of Almeria

SET in a mythical kingdom of corrupt leaders and salacious figures.

So some might say it’s perfect that producers from Game of Thrones have chosen Andalucia… and to be exact the Alcazaba of Almeria to base their next series.

The ancient defensive monument will be one of a number of sites around Almeria to be used for the sixth series, when filming begins later this year.

The programme rocketed in popularity in Spain, following filming in Sevilla and Osuna for the last series.

Game of Thrones tours have now been set up in both locations to cater for the masses of adoring Spanish fans.
