AWOL Stephen Lawrence ‘killer’ wanted for drug smuggling may be hiding in Spain

AWOL Stephen Lawrence ‘killer’ Jamie Acourt is wanted by UK police for drug smuggling.

Acourt, 39, is suspected of having a hand in a £4million cannabis smuggling ring and police believe he could be hiding out in Spain.

His brother Neil – also an alleged part of the gang who killed Lawrence – has already admitted to being part of the drugs gang.

Acourt is suspected of couriering 100kg of cannabis between London and Newcastle.

Originally from Bexley, London, Acourt was last seen on February 1.

UK police are now working with Spanish authorities to track Acourt down.

Detectives fear he may be hiding out on the Costa del Sol where he is said to spend a large amount of time.

Just 16 when Stephen was murdered, Acourt was named by police informants as being one of Lawrence’s murderers, although he was never convicted.
