THE Balearic’s tax agency has notified those with holiday rentals that they must declare their tourism tax for 2016.

The agency sent out notifications yesterday stating that the period for declaring the tax for last year has begun.

Some 9,000 people own holiday rentals in the Balearics, with the tourism tax for 2016 expected to bring €40 million into the coffers.

Owners who have been sent the amount that needs to be paid will have a month to do so.
