Spanish man arrested after cutting woman’s shirt with scissors during bungled attempted robbery in Malaga

A 48-YEAR-OLD Spanish man has been arrested after cutting a woman’s shirt with scissors in broad daylight on a street in Malaga. 

The alleged suspect, who was trying to steal her purse, was stopped in his tracks by passersby who came to the assistance of the woman and alerted police.

The attack took place on Sunday afternoon on Jacinto Benavente Avenue in the north of Malaga.

The suspect then fled from a passing police officer and was pursued through the Ciudad Jardin neighbourhood.

Upon being stopped, he raised the scissors at officers before throwing them on to the roof of a nearby building. 

He was then arrested on suspicion of robbery with violence and attacks or intimidation against law enforcement officers. 

The woman suffered a cut to her hand, which was treated at a nearby medical centre.

The scissors were later recovered.
