A WOMAN is in intensive care after suffering a horrific scalping when her hair got stuck in a sorting machine in southern Spain.

The unnamed 47-year-old was transferred to the Virgen del Rocio Hospital in Sevilla following the accident at the factory where she works in Paradas on September 13.

In newly released details, authorities said the sorting machine ‘ripped her scalp from her nape to her forehead.’

The accident took place at around 8.15 am.

Emergencies 112 Andalucia said her hair somehow managed to be hooked by the machine before it ‘ripped off all her scalp.’

Paramedics and Guardia Civil were called to the scene, where witnesses gave statements.

An investigation has also been launched by the Labour Risk Prevention and Labour Inspection departments.

The woman had a 12-hour emergency surgery immediately after arriving to hospital.

Her prognosis is not known.

The exact factory where the accident happened is not known.
