DOMESTIC ABUSE: Women protest in Malaga

MORE women are seeking help from domestic abuse support services in Andalucia this year than in 2018.

1083 women attended one of Andalucia’s domestic abuse centres between January and September this year, 65 more women then had visited one last year.

There was also a small increase in the number of underage girls visiting a centre, 916 this year compared to 911 in 2018.

The surge in women accessing domestic abuse support services was mainly driven by those making use of emergency services. 49 more women attended an emergency service in 2019 than last year.

In Malaga, there was a slight drop in the number of people accessing domestic abuse support. 232 people had gone to a centre for help up until September this year, compared to 255 at the same time in 2018.

The Andalucian Junta has set aside €7.5 million for domestic violence support services in 2020.
