New COVID-19 cases go down over first weekend of October on Spain’s Costa Blanca

Two years of daily Covid-19 infection figure announcements ends in Costa Blanca and Valencia areas of Spain

NEW COVID-19 cases in Alicante Province showed a slight fall last weekend compared to the last weekend in September.

Figures from the Valencian Health Ministry released on Monday evening(October 5) showed 197 positive cases compared to 205 seven days earlier.

The Valencian Community as a whole reported a total of 529 new cases and five deaths, down on the previous weekend figure of 565.

133 people are hospitalised in Alicante Province, with 33 of them receiving intensive care.

13 new outbreaks have been registered throughout the Valencian Community, two of which are in the Alicante area.

Both are work-related outbreaks involving three people in Benidorm and four in the adjoining municipality of Villajoyosa.

Health Minister, Ana Barcelo, said that 90 per cent of the outbreaks have less then ten people infected, and just over half of them are in Valencia Province, with Alicante Province accounting for 26.2 per cent.
