Man intentionally runs ex-wife over with car in Spain’s Mallorca

Policia Local Palma

A MAN has been arrested for allegedly intentionally running over his ex-wife and her friend with his car in Mallorca.

The detainee, 40, was taken into custody on Sunday afternoon after mowing down the two women with his Peugeot 207 on Calle Blanquerna in Palma.

According to witnesses, the vehicle had been moving slowly down the road before accelerating and making a sharp turn onto the pavement.

The victims were attended to by paramedics for various injuries including concussion.

It was at this moment that one of the women explained to Policia Local officers that it was her ex-husband behind the wall.

He was swiftly cuffed and subjected to an alcohol and drugs test due to a suspicion that he was intoxicated.

He has so far been charged with gender violence, driving dangerously and causing personal injury.

The charges may be upgraded to attempted murder.

Investigators say that the woman held an active restraining order against her ex partner.

There were also numerous incidents of abuse reported to the police throughout the couple’s marriage.

It comes after an ex-soldier reportedly killed his girlfriend as a part of a murder suicide.

The victims, a 37-year-old Spanish man and his 36-year-old Bulgarian girlfriend, were discovered next to a petrol station in Peguera last week.

Both had a single gunshot wound to their heads and a shotgun was found between the man’s legs.
