Must-visit: The ‘little Mykonos’ of Spain’s Andalucia that boasts crystal blue waters and white-washed homes

NO need to go to Greece, meet Spain’s ‘little Mykonos’ with white-washed homes and crystal blue seas.

Every year, thousands of tourists flock to the Greek islands to live out their Mamma Mia fantasies.

Whether it’s Santorini, Crete or Corfu, there’s no doubt that these holiday destinations are becoming oversaturated with tourists, so why not visit a dupe instead?

La Isleta del Moro, in Almeria, Andalucia, has been dubbed ‘little Mykonos’ thanks to its stunning coastline lined by blue and white houses.

The small town is part of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park, which maintains turquoise, clear waters throughout.

La Islaleta del Moro is believed to be an old pirate refuge and has just 170 residents.

Thanks to its small population, it maintains its essence as a traditional fishing village, with coloured boats lining the shore.

Normally quiet, the town receives the most visitors in summer, when people come to enjoy the Playa del Peñon Blanco and Playa Isleta del Moro.

Aside from the beach, you can take boat tours around the area, hop on a kayak, go diving or snorkelling in the crystalline waters or hike in the nearby mountains.

For fans of seafood, La Islaleta is a great place to try fried or battered fish.

Nearby, there are many other lovely beaches such as the Playa Los Escullos, Playa del Embarcadero and the Cala del Carnaje.
