Watch: Drivers in Spain are warned by police to never leave this item in their vehicle’s glove box

THE Guardia Civil has launched an awareness campaign aimed at drivers in Spain.

In a video shared on social media, an officer from the force said there is one thing in particular you should never leave in your glove box.

All drivers must carry documents showing their insurance, licence and ownership details, which are often stored in the compartment in front of the passenger seat.

However, drivers should never leave their keys in their car because of the information that can be found on said documents, specifically their home addresses.

It means if someone were to break into your car, they would easily find out where you lived and could take your keys and rob your home.

The message from the Guardia Civil emphasises the importance of not underestimating the lengths that thieves will go to.

The warning adds: “Do not leave valuables in the vehicle and if you have to do so, do not leave them in sight.”
