WATCH: Chaos in Spanish football as goalkeeper absolutely loses his mind and decks opposing team’s captain in heated derby

THIS is the moment a fiery Spanish derby boiled over into chaos after a goalkeeper punched his rival captain in the face.

Shocking footage captured Real Zaragoza’s Esteban Andrada, 35, losing his temper in the dying seconds of Sunday’s Segunda Division clash, after being shown a second yellow card for shoving a Huesca player in the 97th minute.

But instead of heading off, the Argentine can be seen storming towards Jorge Pulido and lashing out, sparking a mass brawl between players.

The ugly scenes escalated quickly, with Huesca keeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza left-back Dani Tasende also being shown red cards as tempers exploded on the pitch.

Both clubs later condemned the shocking violence that marred the crunch Aragonese derby, which Huesca edged 1-0.

In a public statement after the game, Andrada said: “I really regret what happened. It’s not a good image for the club, for the people or for a professional like me.”

The former Argentina international, on loan from Mexican side Monterrey, insisted the incident was out of character, adding it was an ‘extreme situation’ where he ‘crossed the line.’

He now faces the prospect of a lengthy ban – and may have already played his last game for Zaragoza.

Real Zaragoza blasted the incident in a strongly-worded statement, saying the scenes were ‘unbecoming of this sport’ and did not reflect the club’s values of ‘sportsmanship, courage and respect.’

Meanwhile, the result could prove decisive at the bottom of the table – boosting Huesca’s survival hopes while dragging Zaragoza closer to the drop, with their fate potentially sealed depending on other results.
