Brit, 24, dies after tragic ‘face-first’ stairwell plunge in Tenerife

A BRITISH holidaymaker has died after a ‘face-first’ plunge down a stairwell at an apartment complex in Tenerife.

The 24-year-old, who police told The Olive Press was originally from Liverpool, is believed to have been on the second floor of the apartment block when he fell at around 5:30am on Saturday.

Emergency crews raced to the apartment complex on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, Playa de las Americas, after reports of a man lying unresponsive on the ground – but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the death is being treated as accidental, with a local court now overseeing an investigation into the circumstances.

Police believe the man may have woken during the night and left the fourth-floor apartment where he had been staying before falling two storeys down the stairwell.

He is thought to have attended an electronic music festival in nearby Costa Adeje with a friend the day before the tragedy.

A post-mortem examination will determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role, though the results have yet to be released.
