Calls for crackdown on reckless drivers around Marbella’s Golden Mile who make ‘dangerous U-turns and swerve across multiple lanes’

A CRACKDOWN on reckless drivers on Marbella’s Golden Mile who make ‘dangerous U-turns and swerve across multiple lanes’ has been called for.

The far-right political party Vox has said that safety on the Golden Mile is being threatened by dangerous driving and requested that the town hall take measures to change this.

Vox proposes that highly visible and illuminated signs are installed and that double solid red lines are painted on roads. In doing so they believe that the perception of risks on roads will increase and that drivers will be deterred from making dangerous choices.

“We need to incorporate more striking visual elements that can immediately alert drivers,” Vox said.

Currently the situation ‘poses a constant risk for neighbours and drivers’, according to the party.

“We cannot normalise images of vehicles crossing multiple lanes or making illegal U-turns in one of Marbella’s busiest areas,” Vox explained.

One Vox member, Pedro Peña, has proposed these new measures with the party saying that ‘the current signage is not enough to stop these drivers’ and that ‘there are solutions already in use on other roads’.

The Golden Mile is one of Marbella’s roads that handles the most traffic each year, particularly during peak season, and therefore Vox believes that changes must be made.
