BUCKLE up and prepare for even longer traffic queues along this Costa del Sol highway as it prepares for over a month of road repairs.
Drivers who commute in the direction of Malaga from Marbella should plan accordingly for longer traffic times amid upcoming construction along the A-7.
Traffic disruptions began on May 12 and are expected to run through June 26 between the 1044.7 and 1042.7km of the Malaga-bound A-7/AP-7.
Spain’s Ministry of Transport stated that the six weeks of work will force traffic lanes to become more narrow in these sections, along with the on- and off-ramps corresponding to Marbella and Avenida del Trapiche.

Plans were announced back in 2024 to reduce noise along the highways by installing barriers in the form of acoustic screens.
The goal is to decrease sound in the area while reducing its impact on the motorway.
Taking part under the Noise Action Plan, the project’s execution is predicted to close certain traffic lanes at night from 10pm to 6am.
Interchanges 1044 and 1043 connecting to A-355, Ojen and Marbella will all be affected as well.

Authorities shared a map that shows exactly where the project is set to take place, and assured that proper signage will be hung up to ensure the safety of both road users and workers.

Motorists are being urged to proceed with ‘extreme caution’ during the period of the highway construction.
The project has a set budget of 13.1 million, which has been financed with European funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).
