EMERGENCY responders gave their best efforts to aid a washed up porpoise in Andalucia before it ultimately passed due to being stranded.
Beachgoers in Mijas were in for a shock when it was more than just waves washing on the shore.
A dolphin became stranded on Playamarina along the Costa del Sol, which resulted in vets from the Blue Care Partners Veterinary Hospital and the Mijas local police racing to the scene to try and help the sea animal.
Reports say it was clear the dolphin was in poor condition after washing ashore.
Sadly, despite the swift action by rescue services, the cetacean died within a few minutes of becoming stranded.
A video shared by the Environment Department of Mijas’ Instagram page (@areamedioambientemijas) shows the attempts made by responders to save the dolphin’s life before carrying it on a stretcher to perform an autopsy.
Andalucia’s Marine Environment Management Center (CEGMA) and volunteers from the Creamar Mijas organisation collaborated on the lifesaving beach efforts.
