Costa del Sol beaches to get buoy makeover to accommodate twelve water parks and 21 jet-ski circuits

A MASSIVE €200k project is starting across southern Spain to gear up for peak tourist season, featuring buoy installations and inflatable aqua parks.

Summer is about to get a whole lot more crowded within the next few weeks.

Costa del Sol is known for its sunny beaches and laid-back Andalucian attitude.

Current predictions indicate this summer will be even more jam-packed with tourists, due to holidaygoers choosing Spain over other popular travel destinations like Dubai.

Spain’s sunny coast is preparing for the influx of visitors by continuing its annual programme of installing beach buoys.

The upcoming maintenance is taking place in Benelmadena, Casares, Estepona, Fuengirola, Manilva, Marbella, Mijas, and Torremolinos.

About 86km of coastline will have a buoy marking every 200 metres and remain there until late October.

In addition to the safety measures implemented by the buoy system, authorities are also setting up two kitesurfing channels, 12 inflatable water parks and 21 jet-ski routes.

Marbella is specifically busy with vacationers during summertime.

Given the high-expectations of holidaymakers, Marbella will get the largest stretch of buoyage, along with five inflatable water parks.

Four accessible bathing areas will also be created for everyone looking to work on their tan.

The initiative cost over 200k, with officials stating the measure will help improve safety and offer watersports for those travelling to the Costa del Sol over the next few months.
