QUICK-thinking lifeguards have been hailed as heroes for saving the life of a woman having a heart attack in a Torremolinos beach bar.

The 60-year-old appeared to be suffering from chest pains before she lost consciousness at the restaurant on the coast.

Rapid intervention from nearby lifeguards and Policia local officers saved the woman’s life when the incident occurred last Saturday.

Lifeguards used a defibrillator to revive the woman after checking her condition.

Within a minute she was no longer unconscious and the lifeguards stayed with her until the emergency services arrived at the scene.

Then she was transported by ambulance to hospital.

The rapid intervention from nearby professionals was crucial with Miguell Dominguez, the councillor for beaches, highlighting the importance of the officers’ lifeguards and emergency responders.

There are 23 lifeguards stationed across 11 watchtowers in Torremolinos with an ambulance, two jet skis and a rapid response vehicle also available.
